Cancun is a city associated with emerald green beaches, soft sand, and never-ending golden sunshine. The fame of this place has definitely scared backpackers like me a bit.

However, when I came here, things were different. It turns out that that magnificent “Las Vegas of Mexico” is only a little fraction of what Cancun truly is.

What is love?

It was a lovely night after a long day of walking, sightseeing, and eating, my friend Dan and I decided to go for a drink.

“I don’t particularly like beer, but what I do enjoy is how people become more open after they’ve had a drink”, Dan remarked.

I agreed. Cuz not so long after we started drinking that I heard him asking me “What is love?”. Bruh, you know, this is not the kind of question you’d want to ask a 20-year-old girl on the first day we met.

Story from a stranger

“I used to be the kind of person who really loved traveling”, he said to himself. “Almost… from the age of 18, every summer I would travel around, solo, with my huge backpack. I went to all places and meet all kinds of people. Some of them became friends, while some were more like a nightmare. I was obsessed with this feeling: never knowing what will happen tomorrow, never knowing what kind of person I’m gonna be.
